Description
For half a century, This showcases our region's best visual and performing artists in a "blue jean to black tie" festival that has something for everyone! For the entire month of April, Dogwood's 50th anniversary will be commemorated in style, featuring a vibrant mix of blooming flowers and trees, fine art, crafts, theater, dance, Americana music, film and literary arts.
Not unlike the blossom it honors, the Dogwood Arts Festival's perennial return is a tradition that East Tennessee has grown to cherish. It is a celebration of the region’s natural beauty as well as its rich cultural and artistic offerings in all their vast varieties.
The Festival's 2010 incarnation may be its most diverse to date. From scintillating art fairs to sizzling Americana music concerts, oversized outdoor sculptures to open gardens in full bloom, each Festival-goer can create his or her own aesthetic adventure. Peruse the Calendar of Events for a full lineup of the Festival's offerings. There are activities for artists and art-appreciators of all ages, so bring the whole family out to play.
As the Dogwood Arts Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary, strengthening the interrelationship between art and community has never been more critical. Each year, the Festival's three-prong mission - to support arts education in our schools, to promote visual and performing arts, and to preserve and enhance the beauty of our region - is once again set into motion, and everyone is invited to play a part. Just follow the pink-dotted trail!
