Description

A rambling country estate, the Richmond Inn is Spruce Pine's premiere bed and breakfast facility. Located in a scenic mountain setting, the half-century old Inn is shaded by towering white pines and landscaped with native dogwood trees, mountain laurel and rhododendron. The tranquil surroundings belie the fact that the quaint little town of Spruce Pine is within three blocks of the Inn. The terrace of the Richmond Inn overlooks the valley of the North Toe River. Four miles beyond the river valley is the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, crowned by the Blue Ridge Parkway.

With eight spacious guest rooms, including a Grand Suite, each with private baths and richly appointed with antiques and family treasures, the Inn offers you unparallel privacy and comfort. Common quarters offer a spacious living room with the warmth of a stone hearth fireplace, a Southern country butler's pantry and a wide flagstone terrace and veranda. A TV and a VCR are available in the living room for the use of the guests.

Richmond Inn is conveniently located near the heart of North Carolina's "High Country." Within a half-hour or so drive are some of North Carolina's top scenic attractions: Grandfather Mountain, one of the world's oldest mountains; Beech and Sugar mountain, the South's largest resorts; Roan Mountain, the world's largest rhododendron gardens; and Linville Caverns, North Carolina's only known caverns. Linville falls and Linville Gorge Wilderness Area, the deepest cut in the earth's surface east of the Grand Canyon, along with the Appalachian Trail, offer the outdoor enthusiast hiking in some of North America's most scenic trailways.

Close by are several fine restaurants, a shopping center, gem mining, craft studios, golf, horseback riding, a complete indoor sports and fitness center, the North Carolina Mineral Museum and the world famous Penland Craft School. Mitchell County is the mineral capital of the world and rock hounds flock to the Gem and Mineral Show held each August in Spruce Pine.
